That Alta-AN (a x4 PCIe board) will fit into any x4, x8 or x16 slots that you might have. The idea behind PCIe is that if the board can physically be plugged into the connector, it will work. The specification say that a x16 slot will run electrically as a x4 slot if a x4 device is plugged into it.
Have you tried plugging the board into the x16 slot in your computer and see what happens? |

Dear BF Support,
I had to remove the backside metal panel of the board in order to fit it into my x16 PCIe slot. It looks like most of the motherboard of the computer has reversed orientation of the slot for x16 PCIe. This means that the backside metal panel of Alta-AN has to be removed in order to fit into the slot. Even after fitting the board, the connection for the cable is sequestered toward inside the computer and does not look nice and is not stable. Having said that, it seems that I'm still able to do a test run. Thank you. |

We have a hard time understanding what you have described in your previous post. Thus far we have not had any customers saying that that they needed to make this modification, nor have we had to do it here for any of our computers.
We would like to understand the modifications that you have had to make. It would be very helpful to us is you could email us an image of the Alta installed as described in your computer. Please email the image to support @ bitflow.com |
